LEAP before you look ahead: TAB hosts forecasting webinar

A webinar has been devised by leading business organisation The Alternative Board (TAB) to help companies eliminate uncertainty and plan ahead with confidence amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and uncertainties in the energy sectors.

The free forecasting webinar, called LEAP (Look, Effect, Agility and Plan), is a two-hour session that starts on Monday, December 21 (2020), 10.30am-11.30am.

Devised for company owners or key decision-makers in large organisations, the webinar outlines the value of planning for a broad range of scenarios.

It takes into account factors such as company strategy, financials, sales, market, competitors, economic conditions and other variables.

Helen Mill, business coach and TAB facilitator Aberdeenshire East and a former director of commercial innovation at Robert Gordon University, said: “This specially-devised webinar uses a variety of proprietary tools, modelling techniques and processes to help business leaders make informed decisions during these unprecedented times.”

The webinar is latest initiative from TAB in Scotland, using tools and techniques developed from the global TAB community. Scotland now has seven peer-to-peer boards – four in the north-east and three in the Glasgow area. A new board is due to be launched in Edinburgh.

Helen added: “Companies need to identify their strategy going forward. They’re entering a period of uncertainty and will be assessing how to adapt and plan for the future. It’s a very fluid situation for enterprises and they must ensure they are as well prepared as possible.

“Our LEAP webinar takes into account the dual impact of the pandemic and the oil price on the north-east economy. Many companies have taken the steps they can to keep trading, but the next phase is about planning for the longer term in a business world that will continue to see big changes.

“The overlying aim of the webinar is to help participants develop a variety of options, so they’re equipped to remain competitive and come through these tough times.”

Participants will also have the opportunity to get assistance to produce an actionable plan, with different scenarios, that will enable them to move forward.

TAB runs boards where business leaders meet monthly with support from a TAB facilitator. Each TAB board comprises up to eight business owners, directors or decision makers at larger companies. The boards provide a trusted space for experienced entrepreneurs to share experience and knowledge.

Additional management resources are also available, as is access to a worldwide network of business owners and leaders. The Alternative Board started nearly 30 years ago in the United States. There are TAB boards across 20 countries, with 80 in the UK in total.
